This is something we come across when talking to new vacation rental owners every day at Evolve. How would you describe your vacation property?
And sometimes homeowners have a tough time coming up with the words. So we decided to write a blog post for all of the vacation rental owners out there who aren’t our clients. We’ll help you take advantage of what we call The Buddy System (simple, isn’t it?) to help you create the perfect description for your property that will entice potential travelers to book and make your listing a standout.
Find a Buddy. Or Buddies.
Ideally, these are people who have been to your vacation property. Friends or family – doesn’t matter. They’re people who can help describe your property, and from a traveler’s point of view.
Ask Your Buddy.
Here is a list of questions you can ask your chosen buddy to help you build the perfect vacation rental listing:
- What was the first thing you noticed when you walked through the door?
- What is your favorite thing about the property?
- How easy is it to get around the area surrounding the property?
- How would you describe the property to someone who has never seen it?
Build Your Listing.
Take your buddy’s answers and use those to craft the ideal listing. If you mention features of the home in your listing, make sure you have photos to support those statements. Stunning sunset views? Picture. Oversized Jacuzzi tub? Picture.
Keep it Relevant
Seasons change, so should your rental property pictures! If people can see what your property looks like now, they’ll be pleased when they arrive that photos established the proper expectations. If you need to, have one of your buddies swing by for fresh exteriors pictures and email them to you when the seasons change!
While we’d love for everyone to eventually be an Evolve client, we know that some vacation rental owners just prefer to do things themselves. We take care of everything above for our clients, but hey – if we can’t earn your business, we’re just happy to help you make your listing as attractive as possible to all those renters out there. Happy listing!
